AMERICAN SCHOLARS AT AUN WEIGH INTO U.S. ELECTION RHETORIC

Three Americans at AUN, Professor Bill Hansen of International and Comparative Politics, Professor John Leonard of Economics, and AVP of Security and Safety Operations, Dr. Lionel von Frederick Rawlins, have made their views known on the November 8 presidential election in the U.S.

The discussion on “The U.S. Election 2016: A Crisis in Democracy?” was moderated by Professor Jacob Udo-Udo Jacob.

Professor Hansen set the tone of the discussion with a two-part presentation. The first part focused on the “the intricacies and oddities of the Presidential Electoral College–an unsavory leftover of the Founding Fathers’ basic distrust of popular sovereignty and mass democratic political participation.”
