UNICEF WARNS OF SEVERE MALNUTRITION IN NIGERIA

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has warned of high levels of malnutrition in areas controlled by Boko Haram in northeastern Nigeria. In just the Borno state alone there are over 250,000 children suffering from severe malnutrition. Of these, one out of five will die if they do not receive treatment.

This warning comes as UN experts and others have brought up warnings about the humanitarian crisis around the Lake Chad Basin including Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, and Chad.
